Kickstarter Campaign for Civic Stadium Film Terminates at End of June

Civic Stadium, built in 1938 as a WPA project in Eugene, Oregon, is a rare historic resource and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  This classic wooden grandstand, which seats about 7000, has been a community catalyst for generations, but now is threatened with demolition.  Its story is the story of countless cultural heritage sites around the world, of which some of which have been protected and many have been lost. Fun Film News out of Ashland and Eugene

This past week there were two news articles of note; one in the Eugene Register Guard and the other in the Ashland Daily Tidings.  In Eugene writer Mark Baker profiled Katherine Wilson’s efforts to start a film museum in the Willamette Valley.  For those of you who have seen Katherine’s photos from the days of “Animal House” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, you know she’s collected a lot of film history on her own – here’s the article. Eugene, OR Telecommuncations program has $$$ for you!

I just heard from Pam Berrian, Eugene’s Telecommunications & Cable Program Manager that she still has $20,000 available in their filmmaker equipment fund.  Please note that this pool of money must go towards the purchase of telecommunications equipment.  Pam and her department are big supporters of the film industry and it would be a shame to see this money not get spent on a film or TV project.  All remaining funds will go back into the city of Eugene’s reserve fund July 1, 2011.  Continue reading... “Eugene, OR Telecommuncations program has $$$ for you!”
