Athena Joins The Oregon Film Trail

A brand new Oregon Film Trail sign has been installed and was unveiled today in Athena, honoring the town’s starring role as a location in the silent film, City Girl.  It sits outside the Gem Theatre, Athena.  The Gem Theatre hosted the dedication of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail, in celebration of the local filming of this F.W. Murnau silent feature film.

This Juneteenth watch Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s “O!” and then just Stay Tuned

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival has always been a very bright spot in our artistic firmament and history and they have just been killing it recently with the curatorial content they have been putting out through “O!” – an immersive digital space for all ages.

They are celebrating Juneteenth with a “Social Media Takeover” that needs to be experienced.

Southern Oregon University’s Digital Cinema program is pleased to announce the launch of our new CREW EXPERIENCE with an SOU Foundation crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. In this groundbreaking program, juniors and seniors majoring in Digital Cinema earn 12 upper-division college credits in a 10-week production immersion, leaving the classroom behind to #LearnOnLocation in a professional filmmaking environment. Under the supervision of faculty and industry mentors, our student crew will collaborate in the creation of an original short film. New Oregon Film Trail Sign For Depoe Bay Harbor

A new Oregon Film Trail sign will be unveiled in Depoe Bay (4 PM, Thursday, December 19th, 2019).  The sign honors the town harbor’s starring role as a location in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s NestThe Depoe Bay Chamber is hosting an unveiling of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail in the World’s Smallest Harbor – between dock 1 and 2. A reception will follow at Dockside Charters harbor location.  This sign marks an important filming location related to the classic feature film, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and features a few facts and anecdotes about the film as well as a reference to two other films shot close by (The Burning Plain and Sometimes A Great Notion).. #OregonMade Team Created Netflix’s “Fire In Paradise” Doc

Fire in Paradise“, the Netflix documentary chronicling the recent (2018) Camp Fire in northern California that killed 85 people, was produced by Gary Kout, based in Ashland, OR. The film was directed by Drea Cooper and Zackary Canapari, for whom Gary has produced many commercial and documentary projects including the award-winning feature doc “T-Rex” and the acclaimed Netflix doc series “Flintown“.

Oregon Film Trail Gets Two New Stops At Ecola State Park And Indian Beach

 

Oregon Film Trail continues at Ecola State Park with two signs and a map panel that were installed last week and officially unveiled yesterday.  They honor Ecola State Park’s starring role as a location in Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. The Oregon Film Trail is designed to showcase iconic and interesting film locations in the state.   The signs at Ecola and Indian Beach mark four different filming locations related to the now-classic feature films; Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. Oregon Film Trail Continues in Salem!

Two Oregon Film Trail signs were unveiled over the week end honoring Salem’s starring role as a location for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” (the honors being done by Oregon Museum of Mental Health Museum Curator, Megan Lallier-Barron and Dennie Brooks, Board Member.)  The signs mark two different filming locations related to the now classic feature film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” and feature facts and anecdotes about the film. 8th Stop On The Historic Oregon Film Trail – Hammond Marina, Warrenton

Yesterday, at the Hammond Marina, Warrenton, the 8th sign on the Historic Oregon Film Trail was unveiled.  For film buffs, Oregon is a haven of locations and stories from more than 100 years of filmmaking. Inspired by these nostalgic backdrops, The Historic Oregon Film Trail, launched in Astoria earlier this year was designed to identify iconic set locations around the state. The latest addition to the trail—highlighting the scenic Columbia River views from “Free Willy”— will be in the neighboring town of Warrenton, Oregon.
