In its ongoing commitment to amplify and support the role of the producer, Dear Producer is proud to be continuing the Dear Producer Award in 2024, and launching an open application for year three of the Award (in previous years, producers chosen for the Award were by industry recommendation only).

Call for Submission: FilmFort @ Treefort Music Fest 2024

Call for Submissions to Filmfort 2024! Filmfort is a 3-day programming track that takes place during Treefort Music Fest, celebrating the best of emerging independent cinema. Filmfort showcases diverse cinematic perspectives including shorts and features for audiences of all persuasions, ranging from the enigmatic and gritty to the surreal and off-beat.

Established at Treefort in 2014, Filmfort has been bringing a diverse slate of films and exceptional emerging and established filmmakers to Boise for over eight years. Notable feature films screened over the past couple of years include Jethica (2022), directed by Pete Ohs, Anchorage (2021) by Scott Monahan, as well as riveting shorts such as Weapons and their Names (2023) by Melina Valdez. Women in Film PDX Announce Vision Grant Winners

Women In Film Portland (WIF-PDX) recently announced that local filmmakers Fran Bittakis and Betty Alcaraz are the recipients of the WIF-PDX 2023 Vision Grant, a signature program that supports production of a film by a local female or nonbinary storyteller every year. Over four dozen people applied for the 2023 funds. A committee made up of WIF-PDX board members and two award winning filmmakers, Alicia J. The Labor Market Comes to Old Town on Dec 9 & 10

THE LABOR MARKET: Portland film and TV workers put on a free weekend public market and maker fair in Old Town on December 9 and 10.

IATSE Local 488, representing Studio Mechanics (Motion Picture workers) in Oregon, Washington, Northern Idaho, and Montana will host The Labor Market, a holiday event for the general public from 10 am until 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 -10 in the Goldsmith Blocks Building on 412 NW Couch Street in Old Town Portland.

Prosper Portland Announces Amplify Portland Grant Recipients

The Events and Film Office at Prosper Portland, in partnership with Travel Portland, has selected three recipients of the Amplify Portland: Local Filmmakers Production Grant. The Amplify Portland Grant seeks to create opportunity for filmmakers using local talent, crew, and vendors during production. The grant contributes to productions that build professional development within the local industry and bring exposure to Portland through unique stories with diverse representation both in front of and behind the camera.

Top Secret Club Wrap Party & Awards

Over the past six weeks five panelists composed of professional writers/filmmakers/actors have read and scored all of the 2023 Top Secret Club scripts.

We are excited to say that the winners of the 1k grants made possible through the Creative Opportunity Program have been selected and we are excited to announce them on Monday November 13th at Desert Island Studios!

Dawn Jones Redstone‘s #oregonmade Mother of Color” gets nationwide distribution with Amazon Prime!

Dawn (she/her) is an accomplished Oregon filmmaker and an award-winning queer, Mexican American writer/director. She directed multiple short films including the acclaimed ‘Sista in the Brotherhood” distributed by Collective Eye. Her narratives often feature women of color (in front and behind the camera) and she explores themes of resistance and feminism. Dawn has been the recipient of multiple grants and awards in Oregon, including from; the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Portland Art Museum, Seeding Justice, Oregon Futures Lab, Story Changes Culture, and Prosper Portland.
