Winner of 5 Oscars and shot at the Oregon State Hospital with a full cast field trip to nearby Depoe Bay, the film version of Ken Kesey’s novel will be shown on a 35mm print. The locally produced feature film “Trash Baby” will make its world premiere at the SXSW film festival in Austin, TX later this year. Written and directed by Jacy Mairs ”Trash Baby” is an indie drama that celebrates the kids who grew up amidst white trash culture in the early 2000’s. Bold, cinematic, and rooted in authenticity, this film is a love letter to the beauty of one of America’s most dismissed communities, and an honest look at those society openly calls trash. The Oregon Media Arts fellowships honor Oregon’s professional artists and their achievements while supporting efforts to advance their careers. Oregon Media Arts Fellowships provide financial support to enable Oregon media artists the opportunity to create or complete new work or works-in-progress. Review panels look for Oregon artists of outstanding talent, demonstrated ability and commitment to the creation of new work.

Filmmaker Rosanna Peng Awarded Grant for Her narrative short film “Bowling Bao”.
BendFilm, Inc announced the winner of its annual $10,000 BIPOC Woman Filmmaker Grant. This annual program created by BendFilm awards a filmmaking grant to a woman of color to promote diversity and inclusion in the film industry. The 2024 winner is director Rosanna Peng for her project ‘Bowling Bao’: a short film that captures the internal struggles of identity, belonging, and self-expression, offering a raw, authentic look at how societal expectations—rooted in class, gender, and culture—can stifle one’s sense of self. The Oregon Coast Film Festival returns to the Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay, April 5, 2025. The return of the Oregon Coast Film Festival will coincide with the 100th birthday celebration of the Egyptian Theater.
The Oregon Coast Film Festival (OCFF) began in 2013 at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon, Oregon before moving to the Egyptian Theater in 2016. The last edition of the festival was held in January 2020, as the festival was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.
