During a business retreat, an epic earthquake hits Astoria Oregon, forcing Aaron (Sean McCarty) to set out on foot to reach home, unsure if he’ll survive the 725 mile journey and what he’ll find at the end.This year I’m releasing the most controversial feature film I’ve ever made, a movie that will probably make my broad-minded friends and family cringe because it refutes everything we believe about how to help less-educated, economically-challenged rural Americans. Oregon Doc Camp, a program of NW Documentary, gathers established and emerging documentary filmmakers at Silver Falls State Park for a four day retreat. The program attracts accomplished speakers from around the country, including last year’s keynote, Laura Nix, whose short documentary ​Walk, Run, Cha Cha was nominated for a 2020 Academy Award. This year NW Documentary welcomes the legendary documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman.

New Oregon Film Trail Sign For Depoe Bay Harbor

A new Oregon Film Trail sign will be unveiled in Depoe Bay (4 PM, Thursday, December 19th, 2019).  The sign honors the town harbor’s starring role as a location in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s NestThe Depoe Bay Chamber is hosting an unveiling of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail in the World’s Smallest Harbor – between dock 1 and 2. A reception will follow at Dockside Charters harbor location.  This sign marks an important filming location related to the classic feature film, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and features a few facts and anecdotes about the film as well as a reference to two other films shot close by (The Burning Plain and Sometimes A Great Notion).. Open Signal’s Black Fellowship Lab – Accepting Applications Through December 20th

Open Signal‘s Black Film Fellowship is accepting applications until December 20th, 2019.  The fellowship allows six Portland-based Black filmmakers to immerse themselves in a creative environment that avoids the biases of extra-cultural critique, while fostering an environment of trust and experimentation. The Black Filmmaker Fellowship is a rare opportunity for social exploration and deep career development at Open Signal.

Open Signal Labs is an incubator for new stories at Open Signal, a media arts center based in Northeast Portland. Labs and its fellowship were created with a clear awareness of emerging opportunities for African-Americans in film and television, and the critical social and political importance of the Black perspective in all areas of storytelling.

Oregon Film Trail continues at Ecola State Park with two signs and a map panel that were installed last week and officially unveiled yesterday.  They honor Ecola State Park’s starring role as a location in Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. The Oregon Film Trail is designed to showcase iconic and interesting film locations in the state.   The signs at Ecola and Indian Beach mark four different filming locations related to the now-classic feature films; Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. Oregon Film Trail Continues in Salem!

Two Oregon Film Trail signs were unveiled over the week end honoring Salem’s starring role as a location for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” (the honors being done by Oregon Museum of Mental Health Museum Curator, Megan Lallier-Barron and Dennie Brooks, Board Member.)  The signs mark two different filming locations related to the now classic feature film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” and feature facts and anecdotes about the film. Zeitgeist Northwest will present the 10th Annual Portland German Film Festival (PGFF) October 4-8, 2019 at Cinema 21.

Our annual festival showcases feature films, documentaries and short films that represent the state-of-the-art in German film making. We are also delighted to include films from Austria and Switzerland to give our audience the chance to experience the diversity, history and progress of German-speaking countries in Europe. All films are shown in German with English subtitles to allow a broad audience access to these German-language movies.
