We are thrilled to report that Kelly Reichardt’s #oregonmade “Showing Up” (2022) has collected two nominations in the 33rd annual Gotham Awards lineup.
- Best Feature: (Kelly Reichardt, director; Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino, Anish Savjani, producers (A24))
- Outstanding Lead Performance: (Michelle Williams)
Nominees are selected by “committees of film and television critics, journalists, festival programmers, and film curators. Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors, and others directly involved in making films will determine the final Gotham Award recipients.” The Gotham Awards “celebrate and nurture independent film and media creators, providing career-building resources, access to industry influencers, and pathways to wider recognition. The organization, under the leadership of Executive Director and award-winning producer Jeffrey Sharp, fosters a vibrant and sustainable independent storytelling community through its year-round programs, which include Gotham Week, Gotham Labs, Filmmaker Magazine, the Gotham Awards, Gotham EDU, Owning It, and Expanding Communities.”
“Showing Up,” was directed by Kelly Reichardt, written by Reichardt and Oregonian, Jonathan Raymond, and produced by Oregonians, Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vincent Savino (see all cast and crew here) and was produced by Oregon-based production company FilmScience. Michelle Williams plays a sculptor preparing to open a new show who must balance her creative life with the daily dramas of family and friends.
This is Michelle Williams’s fourth collaboration with director Reichardt, following “Wendy and Lucy” (2008), “Meek’s Cutoff” (2010), and “Certain Women” (2016), and the 6th film Reichardt has shot in Oregon. The film shot mainly in the Portland metro area, is described as a “vibrant and sharply funny portrait of an artist on the verge of a career-changing exhibition. As she navigates family, friends, and colleagues in the lead-up to her show, the chaos of life becomes the inspiration for great art.”
The Gotham Awards is the first major awards show of the awards season that honors outstanding and groundbreaking voices in storytelling. The 33rd annual ceremony will take place Monday, November 27 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Congratulations!
