On October 5 at Willamette University’s Hudson Hall, the new Museum of Mental Health will be hosing a special event called “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest: A Retrospective”. The event will include film highlights and a panel discussion on the making of the film based on Ken Kesey’s novel. The film’s Louise Fletcher (she won an Academy Award for portraying Nurse Ratched) will be in attendance as well as documentary filmmakers Charles Kiselyak, and Antoine De Gaudemar. Both Kiselyak and De Gaudemar produced documentaries on the making of the film.
“Cuckoo’s Nest” is one of the most acclaimed films ever to be produced in Oregon and the story behind producing this film in Salem at the state hospital is equally compelling. We’re sure the event will be one that those who attend will enjoy. The film office has a block of tickets to give away and will begin giving them away on Facebook on Thursday the 27th at 12:00PM. Be sure to go to our Facebook page at that time to see if you can win some free tickets. Included in the give away will be an invite to the VIP reception that same day.
Full details of the weekend’s events can be seen here.
