The OregonMade Creative Foundation has partnered with the arts-based nonprofit, NW Documentary and OregonMade, to establish fellowships for two documentary filmmakers to attend Oregon Documentary Camp from May 14th-May 17th, 2020.
Doc Camp is an annual, 4-day professional development retreat that brings working documentary filmmakers to Silver Falls State Park for screenings, workshops, panel discussions, networking events, and a chance to share their own work. Attendees are given a unique opportunity to leave the often-isolating world of documentary filmmaking behind, and gather in the beautiful woods of Oregon to develop their professional networks with peers from around the country. So most of you know that we mostly talk about state funded incentives to bring jobs and economic activity for the film and video industry. I’ve often been asked “why can’t the private industry step in”? I’ve never had a good answer – until today. The Oregon Media Arts Fellowship(s) provide financial and other support for production expenses to enable Oregon film or video artists to create or complete new work or works in progress. The Media Arts Fellowship(s) recognize and assist media artists whose work shows exceptional promise and who have demonstrated a commitment to film or video art. The Oregon Arts Commission, the Gordon D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant Foundation and Oregon Public Broadcasting fund the program.
