Women In Film Portland is thrilled to announce the return of our Educate/Incubate program!

WIF-PDX’s Educate & Incubate program is designed to help folks with historically marginalized access to the film industry (BIPOC, LGBTQ, disabled, women, people experiencing poverty) get their projects made and support career advancement in the film, media, and entertainment industry. Our goal is to help storytellers bring their work to fruition, ultimately diversifying our culture’s media. This diversification of stories is at the heart of WIF-PDX’s mission and belief that we will only see clearly when everyone is allowed to offer their point of view.

Oregon Film’s Portland offices are officially moving!

During the month of September, Oregon Film will be relocating its offices to the growing Hollywood Film District.

From October 1 we will be located at 4035 NE Sandy Blvd, Suite 216.

Oregon Film now joins a growing number of media focused companies and organizations in that neighborhood which has been the home of the Hollywood Theatre for more than a century.

Showing at the Hollywood Theatre from September 24 to November 12, the Portland Latin American Film Festival (PDXLAFF) serves the community as a non-profit cultural promoter under the guidance of the Hollywood Theatre. We are dedicated to showcasing perspectives of Latin American culture through an exploration of Latin film and increasing the visibility of Latin American cinema locally. PDXLAFF presents films with universal appeal that can be enjoyed by native Spanish, Portuguese, and English speakers, and other lovers of the Latin culture.

Prolific Portland-based producers Neil Kopp and Anish Savjani recently won an Emmy for “Rebel Ridge” as Best TV Movie. Kopp and Savjani’s production company, filmscience, has produced many award winning features including the acclaimed Sundance and Netflix hit “I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore,” and Kelly Reichardt’s most recent film “The Mastermind.”

Formed in 2005, filmscience has produced over 20 features that have been nominated for numerous Independent Spirit Awards and screened at festivals around the world, including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Toronto, Sundance and Telluride.

The Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) annual tax credit auction will take place starting at 9a on Monday, October 20, 2025 and run for 5 days until 5p on Friday, October 24, 2025.

$20.6M of Oregon state tax credits will be available to purchase in $500 increments by auction at a minimum bid of 90% of face value. This means you can purchase a $50,000 Oregon state tax credit at auction for as little as $45,000. This is a great way to pre-pay your state taxes at a discount and direct your tax dollars to an industry that provides jobs, small business growth and ongoing marketing value for the state.

“1968,” a new XR work from award-winning Director and Animator Rose Bond will have its WORLD PREMIERE, in competition at the 82 nd Venice International Film Festival on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. This follows
the success of Bond’s previous work “Earths to Come,”  which exhibited as part of the Biennale College program last year.

“1968 “is ‘communal VR theatre’ that explores the transformative power of protest through allusions to 1968, a year charged with societal, political and cultural unrest . The work interweaves narrative strands in search
of those international interstices of history, power and human connection that become particularly resonant during times of major socio-cultural upheaval.
