Soma Games LLC is an indie video game developer located in Newberg, Oregon. We believe video games can be far more than time-wasters. Video games hold the potential to showcase beauty, reward adventure and excellence, and challenge thinking. Our goal is to passionately and dutifully craft the games that elevate humanity rather than waste it. To learn more, check out our website.
Brandon is one of our level designers — he self-describes his job as, “to find the fun and be the player’s advocate.” He’s been on our team since August 2017. Below is a brief Q&A:
Question: What does your average workday look like?
My days are all so different, but I love the variety. I could be building levels, creating wireframes, designing prototypes, or any other combinations of things that take place in the design realm.
Question: What’s your favorite part of working for Soma?
The people. I really enjoy working with everyone on the team.
Question: How do you want people to remember you?
Someone that loved and served God, valued family and community, was passionate about the outdoors, and cared about environmental stewardship.
Question: What causes do you care about?
Human sex trafficking. I’ve been on international missions and worked with advocacy groups for many years. It’s a huge, global (and surprisingly local) problem that isn’t going away anytime soon.
Question: What’s your personal motto? Or, what three words best describe you?
Embrace the suck. It’s how you respond when things get difficult.
Question: What’s a goal you have for this year?
My goal is to climb the Torment-Forbidden traverse. It’s a mile-long traverse on a knife-edge ridge between two classic summits in Washington state.
