I hope this message finds you all well and creatively productive. It’s been some time since I’ve actively engaged with the Oregon film community, but you are in my heart and thoughts always. Today I have an exciting opportunity for those with completed feature films seeking distribution.
Join us for the POV Filmmakers June mixer on June 27th, 7-9 pm. We’ll have trivia to kick off the meeting, then a presentation by Storyboard Artist Dan Schaefer, Q&A, and time for networking.
This brief introduction to the field of the storyboard artist will include the basic skills needed, working with a director(s), and using your knowledge of film to tell a story that can be interpreted by the crew. This introduction will be followed by a Q&A.

This year, DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon invites you to join them in Eugene on Saturday, February 17 at the Art House Eugene for a preview screening of MY PARTNER, then March 8-10 for live screenings of over 60 films, and online March 11-17 for over 95 films screened virtually.
DisOrient will also have Opening and Closing Night Receptions at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art with food, entertainment, and conversation with filmmakers. Tickets are on sale now on the DisOrient website
Mark Gustafson, who won an Oscar last year for co-directing the animated feature “Guillermo del Toro‘s Pinocchio” and a cornerstone of Oregon’s deep and diverse animation community, died on Thursday. He was 64.
Mark has a long and storied history in Oregon. He began his animation career in the 1980s with Will Vinton and worked in many different types of animation. His claymation work can be seen in the 1987 TV special “Claymation Christmas Celebration,” “The PJs” series starring Eddie Murphy and the TV special “Meet the Raisins,” starring the iconic California Raisins. Filmed along the Southern Oregon Coast, the fourth feature film from Barbed Wire Media, “Bad Fish,” is set to release in 2024. Ahead of an official release, producers Brad Douglas and Ray Robison are letting local audiences enjoy a sneak preview of their latest horror-thriller film.

Women in Film Portland (WIF-PDX) is proud to announce the launch of a new program, Educate/Incubate, designed to advance the careers of local women and nonbinary filmmakers in the Portland film community. The program will be one of the largest in scope ever run by WIF-PDX. It will include public educational events, a cohort of hand-picked resident filmmakers, and a community screening. The organization is hiring a part-time coordinator position to assist with the program.
