[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/43550820[/vimeo]
On Monday I made the trip down to Southern Oregon for a few meetings, events and a nice meal or two! I was asked by NBC Affiliate KOBI to come in and talk about the recent film and video success in Oregon. Here’s a link to the second half of the interview.  I’m still hoping to get the first part but General Manager Bob Wise was nice enough to organize the visit.  From that I hosted another OPIF tax credit info session – don’t forget the OPIF auction begins July 9! Celebrate Goonies Day in Astoria June 7-10

In 2010 Mayor Willis Van Dusen declared June 7 to be “Goonies Day” to commemorate the release of the film back in 1985.  This weekend Astoria will be host to several activities to honor the film that keeps on giving to the community.  Most notably Astoria’s visitor center has organized a scavenger hunt for the visiting die-hard fans.

“The Goonies” impact on Astoria has been told over and over but it never ceases to amaze.  If you visit the Oregon Film Museum you will be stunned to see just how many fans come and visit leaving behind a note marking how much the film means to them.  Continue reading... “Celebrate Goonies Day in Astoria June 7-10”

Christi Wright-Ross, Jan Wright and Shawn Ross of Wrightberry's Cakes & Cupcakes

With the large number of artisanal culinary talent in Oregon, it was no surprise that we were able to find an amazing local cake designer to create a masterpiece for the Grimm, Season 2 celebratory kick off press conference event.  The storybook cake was made by hand from the local designer, Wrightberry’s Cakes & Cupcakes in Oregon City.

We contacted Jan Wright (owner and designer of Wrightberry’s) only last week.  Continue reading... “Let Them Eat (Local) Cake!”

Greg Knowles from ATI in Bend, OR

Yesterday’s Season 2 kickoff event at the stages of “Grimm” was a great time for all to celebrate the fact that several hundred Oregonians are hard at work making the first of 22 episodes for the new season.  It was also a great opportunity to feature several local vendors who have benefited in many different ways because of “Grimm” and other projects like “Leverage” and “Portlandia”.  While visiting the sets of both “Grimm” and “Leverage”, Governor Kitzhaber has remarked several times about the film and television industry’s great use of the local supply chains.  Continue reading... “Season 2 Kick Off of “Grimm” Also a Celebration of the Local Small Business Supply Chain”

At this past year’s Cinema Pacific former U of O alum Daniel Wu visited his alma mater and screened two of his films.  This is a video of his Q&A at the screening of his film “Overheard 2”.  Who is Daniel Wu you ask?  Well he’s one of Hong Kong’s biggest actors and in China, everyone knows his name.  I had the chance to meet Daniel at a dinner the night of the screening and enjoyed finding out what the one thing he sought out while he was in Oregon – the DVD of “Portlandia Season 1”!  Continue reading... “Video of Daniel Wu’s Visit to @CinemaPacific in the Spring”

Now that’s the way to run a Kickstarter Campaign – XOXO Festival Gets Funded

In a matter of a few short days Andy Baio(of waxy.org) has his XOXO Festival Funded.  Unfortunately that means that if you did not already contribute you won’t be able to get a ticket to the event which is scheduled for September 13-16.  Have no fear though, there will still be opportunities to experience the event as the “Market” portion of the festival will be open to the public September 15-16.  What is so exciting about the festival is that it is yet another example of multiple worlds of creativity and tech coming together for a conversation about what is happening and what is next.  Continue reading... “Now that’s the way to run a Kickstarter Campaign – XOXO Festival Gets Funded”
