Prolific Portland-based producers Neil Kopp and Anish Savjani recently won an Emmy for “Rebel Ridge” as Best TV Movie. Kopp and Savjani’s production company, filmscience, has produced many award winning features including the acclaimed Sundance and Netflix hit “I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore,” and Kelly Reichardt’s most recent film “The Mastermind.”
Formed in 2005, filmscience has produced over 20 features that have been nominated for numerous Independent Spirit Awards and screened at festivals around the world, including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Toronto, Sundance and Telluride. Southern Oregon University’s Digital Cinema Program benefits from strong connections to the local production scene: Students can work on commercial shoots, independent feature films, and short films, as well as fill important staff roles at the Ashland Independent Film Festival.
Following a campus reorganization, Digital Cinema is now in the same school as Theater, Design, Fine Arts, Creative Writing, and Emerging Media/Digital Arts, which has created more opportunities for students to collaborate across disciplines.
