The horror fantasy film “His Monster,” directed by Washington native Erich Cannon and shot along the Oregon coast and parts of Astoria will screen at FantaFestival in Rome, Italy later this month.
Production company Compassionate Disaster Films announced today that the feature film “His Monster” has been selected to compete in the 45th annual FANTAFESTIVAL in Rome, Italy on Saturday, November 22nd at 4PM.
Erich Cannon’s thriller story follows a struggling alcoholic, played by “Killers of the Flower Moon” actor Gabe Casdorph, whose daughter is attacked and mysteriously swept into the ocean, Casdorph’s James Streeter, remains living in the woods, alone, hunting for what he believes is responsible.
The feature was shot in Mt. Hood, Astoria, Hug Point and parts of Portland. Local cast and crew had a large part of the production, including a lead role for Ashley Song, and creature design by Scott Foster, a local sculptor with production design by Andee Hess of Osmose Design.
Cannon, has an extensive list of assistant and producing credits going as far back as 2010 when he first entered the industry as a production assistant on Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours”, with ”His Monster” this is the first written and directed by Cannon.
The film, “His Monster” is coming off its west coast premiere last weekend in Santa Ana, California as part of the Old Towne Film Festival where it took the award for Best Picture.

Compassionate Disaster Films this year recently released the family adventure film “Braving Rapids” also directed by Erich Cannon from a Kim Hornsby screenplay, it also just completed post on a new horror film written and directed by Lisa Jay entitled “The Cuckoo Clock”
