CINE | SEEN Announces Film & Filmmaker Line-up

Cine | Seen 2025!!  A night of shorts films showcasing the talents of filmmakers based in the PNW. We are highlighting the unique perspective and films of underrepresented and underserved artists. Join us in creating a space for creative celebration here in Oregon.

 

  • Doors 6:30pm: Music by Mint Whisper
  • Event starts 7:30pm: Michelle Damis Oregon Media Production (OMPA) interim ED says a few words.
  • 7:35- 7:55 pm:Host: RaShaunda Brooks welcomes audience, talks briefly about CINE/SEEN, and the films.
  • 7:55-9:55pm– Films in order of appearance:
  • 9:55-10:05 brief Q&A with filmmakers
  • Music to close out by 10:20pm

The Winemaker – director: Sarey Martin Concepción

Logline: A winemaker with a cosmic secret must finish the year’s vintage before her enemies catch up with her.

 

Help Solve a Murder – director: Mary Matthews

Logline: for Help Solve a Murder: Meet gun violence prevention advocate Asianique Savage, her grandmother Perlia Bell and the justice fight for Tyz’Juan James, whose murder you can actively help be solved.

 

Barrio –  director: Alexander Ibarra

Logline: “In the heart of Portland’s shifting landscape, a recent graduate confronts the enigma of her future while working as a cashier at her aunt’s beloved Mexican bakery. As the scent of tradition intertwines with the winds of transformation, our protagonist and her aunt grapple with the imminent closure and bittersweet farewell of their bakery amidst neighborhood gentrification.”

 

Mirror Mirror – director: Anchitta Noowong

Logline: During a work trip, a young woman wakes to find herself trapped in her room, her reality unraveling with each passing moment.

 

Deceiver – director: Ian Franco

Logline: Deceiver ” While out celebrating her birthday with her sister and friends, Terry is brought face to face with a violent force that shows her who she really is.”

 

Speak your Truth – director: Nsayi Matingou

Logline: Portlanders explore their understanding and experience of race in this intimate short.

 

Ideal PDX  – director: Jim Stulting

Logline: A collective of Latino artists painted Frida Kahlo into Portland’s history. Years later, their mural rises again to inspire the future.

 

Leaders of Men – director: Lorenzo Lowe III

Logline: For head coach Anthony Stoudamire, it’s more than just X’s and O’s when leading the Jefferson Demos football team.

 

Echo – director: Haley McCoy

Logline: Two hikers veer off the path to find an amazing view, but it is quickly tarnished when they suddenly start hearing a familiar voice yelling at them.

 

The Last Vampire in Portland – director: Alexandra Ramos

Logline: The Last Vampire in Portland follows one weekend in the life of Anacaona, a pre-colonial Taino vampire, as she navigates the existential dread of modern life and the struggles of being a US resident.

Cine | Seen 2025 @ Hollywood Theater, Thursday, September 17, 7:30pm-10:20pm

Doors 6:30pm $12 for adults, $10 for senior/student/children, and $9 for Hollywood Theatre.
