The fourth annual Screen My Shorts Film Festival (Australia) is running a short film competition to raise awareness about the Homeless. Cash prizes of AUD$11,000 to be shared - 1st Prize of AUD$5,000.
We are inviting filmmakers, animators, documentary makers and machinimatographers to make a 3-10 min short film about the homeless in 30 days, beginning on 11th April 2014.
All filmmakers taking part in Project Homeless will be allocated one of over 20 subjects/topics to explore and relate it to the Homeless, such as.... current refugee situations, LGBT intolerance, homeless by choice, gambling, economic pressures and returning war veterans.
The official Filmmaking Period begins at 7 pm Friday 11 April, 2014 local time in each participating city. This is when teams are allocated a subject and line of dialogue, which relate to the central theme in their short film. Filmmakers must finish uploading their film by Midnight, Sunday local time 11 May, 2014.
The completed films will be judged by an expert panel and the finalists will screen at the Screen My Shorts Awards ceremony, taking place at Riverside Theatres, Australia, on Friday 11 July, 2014.
Project Homeless was purposely designed as a global event for filmmakers to participate, contribute and raise awareness whilst giving them opportunities to develop their craft. Their creative works then become a community resource for education, entertainment and inspiration.
