Setting Up Your Creative Business For Success
Sept 3 12:00 PM 1:30 PM
This workshop provides an overview of the legal tools available to help artists and creatives establish their work as their business. We discuss when it may make sense to form an LLC; how to set up your business with the State of Oregon; financial basics for new creative businesses; and business licenses.

Contracts for Creatives
Oct 1 12:00 PM 1:30 PM
This workshop walks creators through best practices in common business contracts. We will be taking a concise look at the most common clauses in the most important documents. This presentation will cover everything from creative licensing to commercial tenancies. Our goal is to give participants tangible tools and informed context for entering agreements.

Copyright Fundamentals
Nov 5 12:00 PM 1:30 PM
This workshop covers the basics of copyright protection in a straightforward way. You’ll learn about what can be copyrighted, who owns the copyright (including initial ownership, transfers, and “work-made-for-hire” situations), how to register your work, and what to do if someone infringes on your copyright. We’ll also discuss fair use and the impact of AI on copyrights. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of copyright law and know how to protect your creations.
