What a great opportunity, PSU’s College of Fine and Performing Arts and PGE are hosting acclaimed director and electric vehicle (EV) enthusiast, Chris Paine for this public lecture on “how the new generation of cars are America’s future: fast, furious, and cleaner than ever”.

Paine is best known for his 2006 documentary Who Killed the Electric Car.  This year Paine has a new movie coming out, Revenge of the Electric Car, and in it he chronicles how every major car maker is clamoring to make new electric models as well as winning over the public. Attending our Annual Meeting was Governor Kulongoski, members of the Governor’s Office of Film & Television Board, as well nominees for the annual awards and a large audience of industry professionals at the newly rennovated Lincoln Performance Hall at PSU on Friday evening.   PSU‘s technical team made it possible to catch up on industry happenings in Ashland, Bend and Eugene via  live broadcast by teleconference bridge.

D.B. Sweeney to star in new TV pilot set in Portland

Turner Broadcasting announced today that D.B. Sweeney has been cast to play the lead in Electric Entertainment’s pilot set in Portland titled “Brain Trust”.  Here’s the info on the pilot. Dean Devlin will be directing the pilot which is due to shoot in Portland in December for two weeks.  We were thrilled to have Electric bring a second project to Oregon and even more excited to hear that they made the decision to re-write this pilot for Portland.  The original script had set the pilot in Washington D.C. Northwest Film Center Announces 37th NW Film & Video Festivalʼs Audience Awards

The 37th Northwest Film & Video Festival, which receives submissions from artists in Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho, wrapped up its 9 day run Saturday, November 13 after screening 11 features and 28 short films, 12 of which were singled out for special recognition by Gill Dennis, this year’s festival judge and Master-Filmmaker-in-Residence at the American Film Institute.

Audience awards go to the following filmmakers for best feature and best shorts. Portland filmmaker Andy Blubaughʼs first feature film THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM emerged with the Favorite Feature prize. Go Green -Got Goats?

Gearhead Grip & Electric has been practicing sustainable methods for a long time – full recycling on it’s trucks and trash disposal for customers, green holiday gifts etc etc.   – but last week they took their commitment to the next level when Don Rohrbacker decided to employ about 15 brush-munching goats to clear their truck  yard (a 50 x 50 foot lot).  Continue reading... “Go Green -Got Goats?”

On Friday we were able to take advantage of a unique marketing opportunity thanks to the support of the Portland Based band Pink Martini, a few donated bottles of Oregon Pinot from the Willamette Valley Winery Association and the coordination efforts of Jennifer Yocom from Portland Mayor Sam Adams’ office.  Thanks to Jennifer’s relationship with the band and the band’s willingness to help market Oregon, we were able to obtain twelve tickets to the Pink Martini concert friday night which was the first of three performances this weekend at the bowl.  Continue reading... “Update from Oregon Film trip to Los Angeles”

The “Leverage” gang has to be one of the most Twitter savy groups out there. Thanks in large part to the leadership of Dean Devlin, many of the cast and crew tweet frequently about the goings on in and around Portland.
