Governor’s Office of Film & Television Nominated For LMGA Award For Work On “Wild”

LMGAThe Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television (AKA The Oregon Film Office) has been nominated for consideration for a Location Managers Guild of America  Award for “exemplary work on WILD“.  Winners will be chosen after a vote from active and retired members of the LMGA the finalists were announced January 27th, with final balloting of the nominees taking place February 6th.  The second Annual Awards Show will be help in Los Angeles on March 7th.

“Wild” In Oregon!

It seemed fitting that Fox Searchlight’sWild“, special-screened in four Oregon cities the second week in December. The screenings kicked off with the Oregon premiere of the movie at Cinema 21 , Portland.  Reese Witherspoon (nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress), Laura Dern, Jean-Marc Vallée , and of course local Portlander and inspiration, Cheryl Strayed, were on hand to introduce the movie to a packed house, as well as an introduction from Tim Williams, Oregon Film’s Executive Director. WILD Contest Has Oregon Covered

Fox Searchlight unveiled the #LifeisWILD contest this week as a headliner in promoting Reese Witherspoon‘s WILD.  Oregon Film was approached by Fox Searchlight to help put this contest together as an interactive and creative way to bring attention to the movie, and in so doing, the Pacific Crest Trail, and Oregon simultaneously.  Oregon Film collaborated with Travel Oregon to pull together a fantastic Grand Prize package of a week long trip to Oregon for the winner and a friend.  Continue reading... “WILD Contest Has Oregon Covered”

Witherspoon and Papandrea Push For More Female Dramas Like “Wild”

Reese Witherspoon (and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea) have, of course, been getting all kinds of press attention for WILD , and now, more recently, their quest to find quality, female driven dramas.  Their production company, Pacific Standard, has only been around for two years, but already they have three projects (WILD, GONE GIRL, DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS) under their belt.

Fox Searchlight’s “Wild” Premieres In Telluride

The 41st Telluride Film Festival announced it’s lineup today. Fox Searchlight Picture’s “Wild” will be premiering at the festival.  “Wild” starring Reese Witherspoon, and produced by her production company, Pacific Standard, shot in more locations throughout Oregon than any other project filmed in the state to date.  From southern Oregon; Crater Lake and Ashland; to the Badlands, Smith Rock and Bend in Central Oregon; and also the Portland metro area, Timberline and Bridge of The Gods in the Columbia River Gorge, to name a few.  Continue reading... “Fox Searchlight’s “Wild” Premieres In Telluride”

“The Wilderness of James” to World Premiere at SXSW

The iOPIF feature, “The Wilderness of James“, that shot in Portland in 2012, is to have it’s world premiere at SXSW this year.  Michael Johnson (formerly from Kamp Grizzly), wrote and directed the feature,  it stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Road”, voice of Norman Babcock in “ParaNorman”), Virginia Madsen (“Sideways”), Isabelle Fuhrman (“Orphan”), Evan Ross (“Jeff Who Lives At home”), and Danny Devito (“One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”).

Reese Witherspoon’s “Wild” Shot More Locations In Oregon Than Any Other Project To Date

It was gratifying that “Wild” shot in more places in our state than any other feature film to date.  Reese Witherspoon (“Walk The Line, Mud”) traveled the entire length of Oregon from southern and central regions, up to the Gorge and Portland metro while shooting (author), Cheryl Strayed’s, NY Times best-seller novel, “Wild”.  Witherspoon is not only starring in this Fox Searchlight feature, but producing with business partner Bruna Papandrea (“Warm Bodies”, “all Good Things”) under their Pacific Standard banner, and River Road’s, Bill Pohland (“The Tree of Life”, “Twelve Years A Slave”). “Wild” Set to Film Throughout Oregon in October

A few months back it was announced that Portland based author Cheryl Strayed’s successful memoir “Wild” was being made into a feature film with Fox Searchlight producing and distributing the film.  Reese Witherspoon’s company Pacific Standard originally optioned the theatrical rights.  Acclaimed director Jean-Marc Vallée (recently directed “Dallas Buyers Club) is directing.  Now with just a few weeks to go before principal photography, it appears that the film will cover more parts of Oregon than any other project of recent memory.
