Google Trekker Brings It’s Camera Technology To The Oregon Wilderness

Google’s  Trekker Camera is slowly bringing it’s technology to the trail.  This summer volunteers from the Oregon Wild organization (formerly the Oregon Natural Resources Council or ONRC) offered to carry the Trekker and hike some of Oregon’s most beautiful trails in order to bring a “street view” to the public and is so doing, bringing attention to conservation lands in Oregon.  OPB covered the story and you can read more here.

“Wild” Locations Get Recognition At LMGA Awards

Congratulations to Nancy Haecker  (“Wild“),  who, at the second annual Location Managers Guild of America Awards, won for “Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film”.  The awards took place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Saturday night.

According to Variety, Haecker read Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, “Wild”, during a flight, and was so enthused that she wanted to scout the film project.   Even though most of the film plays for California, around 60 locations in Oregon were scouted by Haecker; from the high desert in central Oregon, the city of Ashland, Crater Lake, the Portland metro area, to the Bridge of the Gods in the Columbia River Valley Gorge.  Continue reading... ““Wild” Locations Get Recognition At LMGA Awards”

At Oscars 2015 the 87th Academy Awards Witherspoon was nominated for Best Actress in “Wild”, and Dern for Best Supporting Actress, and Laika’s the “The Boxtrolls” for Best Animated Feature.  Although Oscar eluded Oregon projects this time, to stand with their equally talented fellow nominees was impressive.  Congrats! “Wild” Immersed In Virtual-Reality

“Wild” took a foray in to the world of immersive media at the New Frontier Installations at Sundance last week with “Wild – The Experience” from Fox Searchlight and the Fox Innovation Lab.  Viewers were able to join Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern on the Pacific Crest Trail and be enveloped in a moment of virtual-reality between the two actresses.  Montreal filmmakers, Paul Raphaël and Félix Lajeunesse (The Felix and Paul Studio) directed the three minute sequence as one their first examples of cinematic virtual-reality in 3D.
