Fox Searchlight unveiled the #LifeisWILD contest this week as a headliner in promoting Reese Witherspoon‘s WILD.  Oregon Film was approached by Fox Searchlight to help put this contest together as an interactive and creative way to bring attention to the movie, and in so doing, the Pacific Crest Trail, and Oregon simultaneously.  Oregon Film collaborated with Travel Oregon to pull together a fantastic Grand Prize package of a week long trip to Oregon for the winner and a friend.  Continue reading... “WILD Contest Has Oregon Covered”

My name is Francesca. I am from Italy and I am a student at Bocconi University. I am studying Economics for the Arts, and my passion for cinema brought me to become an intern at the Oregon Film Office this summer.

As an intern and a student, I will have the opportunity to attend a special event: the screening of “Anonymous,” Roland Emmerich’s latest movie. Oregon's Diverse Talent Base – its Greatest Strength

Whether it’s the thriving independent music scene, live theater, or a combination of multiple creative disciplines, there is no doubt Oregon is a thriving base of creative expression.   According to the Oregon Arts Commission over 60,000 jobs in Oregon are directly related to the creative economy.  That may not sound like a lot of jobs but when you figure that Oregon has about 1/10 of the population of California, it’s a large section of the total workforce in Oregon.  So when a film or television project comes to Oregon, there is a rich and diverse depth of talent to pull from. “You Go Girl!” – the fourth annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant– “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” winner (OAFG21) screened at Sundance 2022 in the U.S. Live Action Short Films, and also the Oregon Shakespeare Festival O site. Ashland Independent Film Festival Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With A Live & Outdoor Festival June 24-28th


Ashland, Oregon – The Ashland Independent Film Festival is excited to announce the full selection of musical and cinematic events scheduled for its live & outdoor festival running June 24-28 at venues in Ashland and Medford.

At Scienceworks Hands-On Museum, viewers will watch films projected on a large outdoor screen in the field facing the building. At the Walkabout Brewing Company in Medford, viewers will fill the spacious backyard, facing the big screen and stage. Each screening at these two venues will be accompanied by live musical performers, food carts and beverages. Ashland & Portland Again On MovieMaker’s List – “Best Places To Live & Work 2021”

MovieMaker magazine published their 2021 rankings for “Best Places to Live and Work as a Filmmaker” – both Portland and Ashland made the list for the Large City and Small City categories respectively.

Here’s what they said about Portland: ” famous for all things handcrafted and artisanal, and that extends to filmmaking. The city is home to two stop-motion-animated films due in 2021: Guillermo del Toro’s bold new take on Pinocchio and the Key & Peele reunion Wendell and Wild, from Coraline director Henry Selick. The fourth annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG21) is pleased to announce the winning application, entitled, “You Go Girl.”

Oregon’s open spaces and outdoor pursuits are for all Americans and visitors, yet there is a well-documented inequity in America that is deeply rooted in our shared cultural history, and as a whole, our outdoor spaces are not equally utilized for a multitude of historical, social and cultural reasons. Ashland Independent Film Festival Releases Program for Virtual Festival

The 19th annual Ashland Independent Film Festival released its schedule for an interactive virtual festival that will capture the intimacy and magic of the annual Southern Oregon event popular with filmmakers and audiences.

Richard Herskowitz, AIFF Executive and Artistic Director, in a special 30-minute video available at www.ashlandfilm.org, will preview highlights of the 30 feature films and over 100 short films accepted to the annual April festival, which was cancelled by the coronavirus but which quickly moved to an expanded online event.
