This time last year we tried to give some context and background to the work of our office in a post we shared called, “Who We Are & What We Do.” This year, we’d like to add to that.

So, first things first.

In the last year we have been lucky enough to find dedicated and invested partners to tackle a whole new series of grants and workforce development opportunities through the #OregonMade Creative Foundation. Founded as a program of The Charitable Partnership Fund, a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation, the OMCF, along with Travel Oregon, Danner Boots, the Portland Film Office at Prosper Portland and an amazing group of in-kind contributors, has now awarded the $18,500 “Outdoor Adventure Film Grant. #OregonMadeShows Exibit

In collaboration with PDXART, and many other partners (please see list below) a new exhibit is up on Concourse E, at the Portland International Airport this week.  The exhibit showcases “vignettes” of artifacts, props and images from just a few of the 400+ feature films & television shows that have utilized Oregon as their production backdrop over the years.  From the early silent era films like “Fisherman’s Bride” (shot in Astoria, 1908), to “Grimm”, the popular NBC television series currently shooting in Portland, Oregon has played an important role in production. The annual 2015 Oregon Actors Awards took place at the Portland Center Stage, to a packed house over the week end.  The awards recognized outstanding members of Oregon’s film, video and multimedia industry.  Four awards were given to film, TV and commercial actors, and one for community service.

(PORTLAND, OR) Thirty-two Northwest actors have been chosen to complete a six-week intensive training program, as part of a new Talent Diversity Initiative to take place this fall in Portland. NBC Universal’s “Grimm” begins season 5 just in time for Halloween, and will premiere October 30 (Fridays 9/8c). The first episode, “The Grimm Identity” promises that “vengeance rises from the ashes”, and this season will contain the 100th episode that Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) suggests will finally explain the ramifications of the  “keys and coins”.  Stay tuned!
