(NAR) It’s the summer before his senior year of high school, and for the first time, Isaac is beginning to feel the anxiety of an uncertain future. His older brother Ben, a nearly-graduated journalism major with a job already lined up, comes home from school for the summer and re-befriends his ex-high school sweetheart, Lila, currently working to pay rent and taking classes haphazardly at the local community college. Beginning to feel the impending grasp of the working world, Ben decides to set out on a last hurrah of a road trip, a modern white kid’s vision quest. Eager for any excuse to escape her humdrum cluelessness, Lila elects to join him and invites Isaac. (80 mins.)

(DOC) Over the last 50 years, 80-year-old Maurice Sendak has written and/or illustrated over 50 books, including his most famous work, “Where The Wild Things Are,” winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1964. Made with Spike Jonze in conjunction with his film adaptation of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, this affectionate and intimate portrait also reveals the author’s macabre side. As the camera first captures Sendak, he is an excited, frenetic ball of energy, but when asked if he has any advice for young people, Sendak says, “Quit this life as soon as possible. Get out, get out.” (45 mins.)
