Each October, the Eugene Film Society hosts the 72-Hour Horror Film Competition at the Ragozzino Performance Hall on the Lane Community College campus in Eugene. Filmmakers: the competition kicks off 10/18 when you are given a prop and a creative element and turned loose for 72 hours to produce a masterpiece of soul-numbing terror! Horror film fans: Gather with over 400 cast, crew and other horror film fans to be stunned and amazed and blown out of your seat with the thrills and chills! NW Film Center Workshop: Sound Design—Creating Acoustic Worlds for the Screen Sound design is not about software, catchy music or cool sounding effects. It’s about emotional response: how a combination of dialogue, music, sound effects, designed sounds and backgrounds supports character development and the dramatic elements of the story. This workshop will explore how powerful sound can be by looking deeply at different artistic choices and their influences the meaning of a scene.
