PANEL DISCUSSION: SO YOU WANT TO BE A FILMMAKER?

There are many possible paths to becoming an independent media artist. Aimed at aspiring teens and their families, this informal conversation with a panel of makers references their personal experiences to explore a variety of approaches from traditional means to those which are unique and risk-taking. Whether you are contemplating college-level study in film or a bootstrapping, do-it-yourself approach outside of the norm, this discussion is intended to articulate the range of opportunities and clarify the elements which can ultimately advance a young person toward their dreams. Panelists will talk specifically about the film school experience, working one’s way up the ladder, and networking within the local film community. Invited speakers include Andy Blubaugh and David Cress, whose most recent works are screening in this year’s Northwest Film & Video Festival, and the jurors of this year’s Young People’s Film Festival: Lori Damiano, Janet McIntyre, and Tom Olsen, Jr. (90 mins.)
