Join the Co-Op! Portlandia is Gearing Up for Season 3

Portlandia returns January 4th with a whole new, ten episode season of sketches.

Back in August, Portlandia’s director, Johnathan Krisel told the Oregonian that this season was “getting weirder”, so lots to look forward too then!  Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be working with some returning favorites, like Kyle MacLachlan as Portland’s fictitious mayor, as well as plenty of new characters such as Chloë Sevigny playing a new roommate for Carrie and Fred.  However, IFC didn’t want to make hardcore fans wait until January for the new season so they are showing, “Winter In Portlandia” as a special, airing December 14th.

On a more grass-roots, home-grown and Etsy-esque level, fans can now sign up for the Portlandia Co-Op  where members can join a community to help support the show and post images inspired by Portlandia.  You can even knit coffee sleeves that will be purchased by IFC who will then distribute them to independent coffee houses across the country.  Additionally, IFC is also looking for some clever fans to take over the Portlandlia Twitter handle @IFCPortlandia for one week, as well as creative Instagrams that will inspire a Season 3 poster.

Locally in Portland, the Bagdad Theater is putting on an event on November 20th (7pm) to celebrate the release of Carrie and Freds’ brand new book, “Portlandia: A guide for Visitors” (Grand Central Publishing). Details of the event can be found here.  Powell’s Books are also offering signed pre-orders of this fun coffee table book for Portlandia and Portland fans alike.

Oh….and did you take your Portlandia inspired bike tour yet?
