“Portlandia” Returns With Season 4

“Portlandia” Nominated for Two Emmys

It’s exciting to see IFC’s season 3 “Portlandia” sketch comedy show nominated once again for two Emmys for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series” (writers, Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, Jonathan Krisel and Bill Oakley) and “Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series” (Jonathan Krisel).  Oregonian reporter, Kristi Turnquist’s report is here.  The 65th Emmys award show takes place at CBS, Sunday September 22nd. “Portlandia” Wins WGA Award for Best Comedy/Variety Program

On Sunday at this year’s WGA awards IFC’s “Portlandia” won a WGA award for best Comedy/Variety Series.  By most accounts this was an upset for the show as the other nominees included six time winner “Saturday Night Live”, “Conan”, “The Daily Show”, “The Colbert Report”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, and “Real Time with Bill Maher”.  The show continues to grow both audience and acclaim.  The season 3 premiere of the show was up 30% from season 2 and the web companion to the show Kumail Tours Portlandia has been a nice surprise on IFC’s website. “Portlandia” Starts Season 3 on January 4 – But Lots of Goodies to See Now

So did you see the winter special of “Portlandia”?  If not you can stil grab it for FREE on iTunes!  Now it’s time to get ready for Season 3 which premieres on January 4.  One cool addition to season 3 is “Kumail Visits Portlandia” which is on the IFC show website.  Make sure you see his visit to the real feminist bookstore!

“Portlandia” Winter Special and Season 3 Guest Star Lineup

Good news for fans of “Portlandia”: the hiatus is almost over and new episodes will be airing soon. Season 3 of the IFC show starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein kicks off on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10pm.  If that seems like a long time to wait for your “Portlandia” fix, there’s more good news: a special new episode, “Winter in Portlandia,” airs on Friday, December 14th at 10:30/9:30c.

Join the Co-Op! Portlandia is Gearing Up for Season 3

Portlandia returns January 4th with a whole new, ten episode season of sketches.

Back in August, Portlandia’s director, Johnathan Krisel told the Oregonian that this season was “getting weirder”, so lots to look forward too then!  Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be working with some returning favorites, like Kyle MacLachlan as Portland’s fictitious mayor, as well as plenty of new characters such as Chloë Sevigny playing a new roommate for Carrie and Fred.  However, IFC didn’t want to make hardcore fans wait until January for the new season so they are showing, “Winter In Portlandia” as a special, airing December 14th. Portlandia receives 2 Emmy Nods, Weiden + Kennedy receives 3
