Award-winning documentary film director seeks Associate Producer to join the creative team to assist with latest film project. The project is currently in pre-production, and the ideal candidate will follow through to post-production.

 

As the Associate Producer, you will:

  • Be closely involved with the pre-production process, leading into production and post-production.
  • Help plan all logistics of production, including permits, travel coordination, story research, and indentifying potential characters and story elements.
  • Use creativity, energy, and charisma to help organize and successfully launch grassroots fundraising events. This position is for an individual that isn’t afraid to get on the phone, get out in person, and recruit sponsorships, apply for grants, and be eager to do what it takes to raise funds. This is the current stage of the project, and will be one of the Associate Producer’s primary goals.

 

Qualified candidate will be:

Exceptional communicator.  Fastidious organizer.  Detail obsessive. Self-starter. Must excel at cold calls, and promoting projects. Computer literate and web savvy. Passionate. Creative. Smart. A genuine connection to documentary film, and ideally someone that is interested in history and in river adventures. Fluency in French helpful, but not required.

 

For your help, you’ll gain:

Direct, practical, and professional experience on innovative, quality film project. Close mentorship from award-winning established professional.  Connections and network among other filmmaking professionals. Credit, copy of project. Ability to attend film festivals or special screenings.

 

Position is currently offered as an unpaid internship. However, stipend or other compensation will be possible pending successful grants and fundraisers.

 

Work will primarily be performed at NW Documentary under the guidance of Ian McCluskey.

NW Documentary is Oregon’s only organization specializing in the art of documentary storytelling. Recognized by national and international awards, museums, art centers and film festivals, it has become Oregon’s focal point for capturing and communicating the human experience through documentary storytelling. Its mission is to create significant documentaries, teach others to create documentaries, and to build community through the exhibition of original documentary works.

 

The NW Documentary internship program is intended to provide opportunities to gain practical hands-on experience and industry skills as well as develop strong organizational and management skills. Prospective interns should submit a cover letter of stated interest and qualifications, as well as a current resume with references. Letters of recommendation are encouraged.
