2017 Portland Indie Film Awards: Let’s Diversify.

Jerry Bell Jr of JBJR Productions presents the 2nd Annual Portland Indie Film Awards entitled “2017 Portland Indie Film Awards: Let’s Diversify” to be held on Friday, April 14th from 7pm until midnight.

This event acknowledges and celebrates the Portland indie film community. Last year’s theme was to “Draw A Bigger Circle” which helped lure local industry professionals out of their silos in order to collaborate, develop, and grow together. This year’s theme, “Let’s Diversify,” is a collaborative effort designed to give voice and vision to more women and minority film makers in the community. Baker Heritage Museum Starting To Plan For 50th Anniversary of “Paint Your Wagon”

Paint Your Wagon” shot outside of Baker City, filming between May and October, 1968 – a western musical film starring Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, and Jean Seberg, adapted by Paddy Chayefsky from the 1951 stage musical by Lerner and Loewe.  “Wagon”was set in a mining camp in Gold Rush-era California, although the actual location of the main set was close to Baker City, and the Eagle Cap Mountains along East Eagle and Jack Creek.

The Baker Heritage Museum is starting to plan for the 50th Anniversary of “Paint Your Wagon” exhibit, and will be on display at the museum 2018-19.

Celebrating #OregonMadeShows

animal-house-of-blues-33-3-posterI first heard about the #OregonMade trademark at the Portland International Airport while viewing actual artifacts from several films shot in Oregon on display.

Now the Oregon Film Museum is stepping out and celebrating ‘Animal House’ with a huge party in Portland on October 30th, 2016. And the local communities, who hold their own local celebrations, are stepping up to support the Oregon Film Museum too.

AIFF- One Of MovieMaker’s “Coolest Film Festivals In The World, 2016”!

“Brother Nature”, Shot in Klamath Falls, Opened Sept 9th

Lorne Michael’s “Brother Nature” opened September 9th – shot in and around Klamath Falls (down town, Lake of Woods Resort, Keno, among others) for 15 days in the summer of 2014.  The feature brought much financial benefit to local businesses, as well as hiring many Oregon crew.  Starring Taran Killam (“12 Years a Slave”, SNL), Bill Pullman, (“Independance Day”, “Lost Highway”), (Gillian Jacobs “Community”), Bobby Moynihan (SNL, “Inside out” “Sisters”), Rita Wilson (“Sleepless In Seattle”), and Sarah Burns, Ellen Bloodworth, Giancarlo Esposito, Rachael Harris, Kumail Nanjiani, Kenan Thompson and David Wain, and produced by Lorne Michael’s, written by Taran Killam, Mikey Day and Cameron Fay, directed by Matt Villines and Osmany “Oz” Rodriguez. Shot In Newport – “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” Premiered September 13

The first spinoff of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” began airing begin airing this September – “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” and premiered to 1.54 million viewers.

The show chronicles 4 families that fish for Dungeness crab in the treacherous, beautiful and rugged Oregon Coast.  The show follows Newport locals; Marc Sehlbach; Mikey Retherford, Jr.; Chris Retherford; Gary Ripka, his son, Kenny Ripka; and Jonny Law.
