#OregonMade “First Cow” Receives 4 Gotham Nominations!

A24’s period drama, “First Cow has been recognized by The Gothams for Best Feature, Screenplay, Actor, and Breakthrough Actor in its 30th annual event. “First Cow” shot entirely on location in Oregon last year at; Oxbow Regional Park, Sauvie Island, Portland, Milo McIver State Park, San Salvador State Beach, and Elkton among other locations.

#OregonMade “The Rental” – On Video Demand This Friday

The Bandon, OR-shot feature film, “The Rental,” a horror-thriller directed by Dave Franco  (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) and will be available in select theaters and available to watch on a variety of video on demand platforms beginning Friday, July 24.

The film stars Alison Brie (“Mad Men,” “Glow”), and Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”), in this horror-thriller – a couple looking to get away for a weekend of fun and relaxation with another couple — Sheila Vand (“A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night”) and Jeremy Allen White (“Shameless”) — but when they retreat to a house seemingly ideal for their vacation…they soon realize maybe it isn’t after all. First Look At Disney’s #OregonMade, “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made”

Disney’s first look trailer is now out showcasing their latest feature, shot partly in the Portland Metro area last year, “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.” The film will begin streaming on Disney + February 7th. Timmy and his polar-bear partner, Total, start a detective agency to solve neighborhood crime – adapted from the children’s best selling series written by Stephan Pastis.

8th Stop On The Historic Oregon Film Trail – Hammond Marina, Warrenton

Yesterday, at the Hammond Marina, Warrenton, the 8th sign on the Historic Oregon Film Trail was unveiled.  For film buffs, Oregon is a haven of locations and stories from more than 100 years of filmmaking. Inspired by these nostalgic backdrops, The Historic Oregon Film Trail, launched in Astoria earlier this year was designed to identify iconic set locations around the state. The latest addition to the trail—highlighting the scenic Columbia River views from “Free Willy”— will be in the neighboring town of Warrenton, Oregon. Oregon Film: Who We Are and What We Do (Update 2019)

Film CommissionThis has become something of a tradition, at least in our minds. As we come to the end of another fiscal year, we want to take a moment and reflect on some of the things we have been able to accomplish during the past year and hopefully come up with some improvements for the next.

The Next Stop On The Historic Oregon Film Trail – Brownsville!

The signs are up in Brownsville and the Historic Oregon Film Trail continues! Three signs honoring Brownsville’s starring role as a location in “Stand By Me” were offically unveiled May 22nd.

The Historic Oregon Film Trail, designed to showcase iconic and interesting film locations in the state, will be unveiling three more signs in Brownsville, May 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM. The signs mark three different filming locations related to the now, classic feature film, “Stand By Me,” and will feature facts and anecdotes about the film. The stunning landscapes of Oregon have been a great inspiration for the past 25 years.  I have been exploring and photographing around Oregon and the NW since 1993.  
After graduating from photo school at the Rochester Institute of Technology and a couple years as the park photographer for Yosemite National Park, I found my way to Portland and have been loving it ever since.
Several years as a photo assistant and photographer gave me the experience to know what a crew may need from a location, and what may go wrong once the crew is on site.

Oregon Film & Oregon State Parks Plant 50 Trees in Celebration of 50 Years Of Oregon Film Office (Plus The First Historic Oregon Film Trail Sign Is Installed)

The Oregon Film Office and Oregon State Parks planted 50 Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Douglas-fir, and Western Hemlock seedlings conifer trees at Gleneden Beach State Recreation site to mark the 50th anniversary of the Oregon Film Office and its long standing collaboration with Oregon State Parks.

Additionally, at this site, a sign was erected as part of the recently created the Historic Oregon Film Trail. The sign indicates that the movie, “Sometimes A Great Notion” was filmed very close to the park and in and around the Siletz River area.
