McMinnville Short Film Festival Announces 13th Festival Edition

McMinnville, OR becomes a destination for art and culture this February for the 13th edition of the McMinnville Short Film Festival! MSFF is excited to announce the lineup for 2024, with over 100 short films from filmmakers all over the world screening in the heart of Oregon Wine Country February 23rd-25th. All films will be showcased at the McMinnville Cinema followed by a Filmmaker Q&A.

This year marks the 13th edition of MSFF, and will feature events for pass holders and industry networking opportunities for visiting filmmakers in addition to screening its official selections:

Portland’s Kurt Rosenberg Brings “The Moon Followed Me to Falmouth” To Oregon Short Film Festival

The Moon Followed Me to Falmouth” will have its  US in-person premiere on Feb. 26th at the Oregon Short Film Festival at the Clinton Street Theater.

The musical short film was Executive Produced by Portland-based composer and filmmaker Kurt Rosenberg, based on his song of the same name. It was brought to life with stunning animation by Joël Gibbs of ARMADA studio.

Shot In The Cascade Mountains, “Hello From Nowhere” Is Now Available To Stream

The romantic adventure-comedy-thriller, filmed near Mt. Hood, is now available to stream! “Hello From Nowhere” was directed by Portland’s Anthony Orkin and produced by Lara Cuddy, Todd Robinson, and Alyssa Roehrenbeck. The cast includes local favorites Summer Menkee, Sean Paul Ross, John Armour, G. Scott Brown, and Denah Angel.

A mysterious hiker pits two camping couples against each other in this wild and wooly comedy set along the Pacific Crest Trail in the picturesque Cascade Mountains.

Dru Holley’s “Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting On Two Fronts” Makes Portland Premiere

In 1866, six all-Black cavalry and infantry regiments were created after congress passed the Army Organization Act. They came to be known as Buffalo Soldiers.

Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts explores the often-contradictory role played by the Black soldiers throughout American history, emphasizing the settling of the American West and colonialism abroad.

Director Dru Holley is a Vancouver, WA-based filmmaker, and the documentary features interviews with Quintard Taylor (Ph.D. Historian at UW), Ryan Booth (Ph.D. Candidate, WSU), and members of the Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle (based in Roy, WA), among many others. Crunchy  Pictures is currently wrapping up post-production on their new musical comedy thriller, HELLO FROM NOWHERE. The project is directed by Anthony Orkin, and stars Summer Rain Menkee, John Armour, Denah Angel, G. Scott Brown, and Sean Paul Ross. It will be released in late 2021. 

HELLO FROM NOWHERE is set in the woods of Oregon, filmed at the beautiful Camp Baldwin, a Boy Scout camp on the eastern slope of Mt. Northwest Filmmaker Lynn Shelton’s Latest Film Opens In Portland & Vancouver April 6

 

Fresh from SxSW, OUTSIDE IN is Lynn Shelton’s latest project. It was shot in Granite Falls, Washington, and stars Edie Falco and Jay Duplass.

OUTSIDE IN opens April 6 at Cinema 21 in Portland and Kiggins Theater in Vancouver. Lynn will be there for Q&As on April 7!
