Fundraising Event for THE WINDING STREAM

A documentary film about America’s first family of country music about to wrap!  Benefit for the upcoming documentary film, The Winding Stream – The Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music

 

The Winding Stream – The Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music – a feature-length documentary about the musical dynasty at the heart of American roots music is almost done. Vancouver, WA producer/director Beth Harrington and her filmmaking team have completed a fine cut of the film and are dashing to the finish line in time for festival season.

The final hurdle is raising enough money to pay for the music and archival footage rights for the film. The goal is $50,000.

On Thursday, January 17, the McMenamins will host a benefit event for the film at their Bagdad Theater on3702 SE Hawthorne BlvdinPortland. The evening will feature music by the esteemed roots music group The Foghorn Stringband, new clips from the film, a raffle of amazing prizes including the $300 Bear Family boxed set of Carter Family recordings, In the Shadow of Clinch Mountain, a singalong, and a presentation by filmmaker Beth Harrington. The event will be emceed by respected old timey musician and square dance caller Caroline Oakley.

Doors open at 6 and the show starts at 7 PM.  Tickets are $12 for adults in advance, $15 day of show. Kids are $6 for anyone under 12. All ages welcome.
