The NW Film Center & Project Viewfinder: From the Streets to the Screen

Without question, those of us creatively engaged in the local film scene are blessed to be able to participate in our growing industry.  As we head into the holiday giving season, the NW Film Center would love to encourage OMPA members to become acquainted with a new program we’re developing to help those without a voice tell their stories through the medium of film.

There is an estimated 1,500-2,000 homeless youth in Portland.  PROJECT VIEWFINDER is our response to this humbling statistic.  We at the NW Film Center and School of Film are in the midst of a fundraising campaign to mentor 12 youth in transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency to learn the filmmaking process and share their experiences via cinema.

Consider joining us as PROJECT VIEWFINDER uses film to change lives, empower self-expression, and create community.  Donate by December 31 at nwfilm.org/youngfilmmakers/projectviewfinder.
