Let Them Eat (Local) Cake!

With the large number of artisanal culinary talent in Oregon, it was no surprise that we were able to find an amazing local cake designer to create a masterpiece for the Grimm, Season 2 celebratory kick off press conference event.  The storybook cake was made by hand from the local designer, Wrightberry’s Cakes & Cupcakes in Oregon City.

We contacted Jan Wright (owner and designer of Wrightberry’s) only last week.  In seven days – and 7 dozen eggs, 15lbs butter cream, 20 1bs fondant, 16 lbs filling and 3 lbs of royal icing later – the Grimm cake was complete.  Cast and crew were treated to their choice of red velvet, chocolate fudge, Boston cream or white velvet.  The entire cake weighed in at around 110 lbs and required two people to carry it in and onto the Grimm sound stage where the press conference took place.  Governor Kitzhaber had the honor of making the celebratory first cut and he did a deft job of slaying the Wrightberry’s sugar monster sitting front and center!

Even with Grimm’s stars attending the event, there was no doubt that the cake stole the show and given the size of it, the lucky crew will be eating it all week!
